Online therapy, also called telehealth, makes it easier to receive high-quality, personalized care while reducing travel time and fitting appointments more comfortably into a busy schedule. Telehealth allows you to meet with your clinician through a secure video appointment from the privacy and convenience of your home, office, or another quiet location.
Before your appointment, you will receive a private link to join the session using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. At your scheduled time, simply click the link and follow the prompts – no complicated software is required.
Online therapy is conducted much like an in-person session. You and your clinician will talk face-to-face, discuss your concerns, identify goals, and develop strategies tailored to your needs. Many clients appreciate the added flexibility, privacy, and convenience of receiving care without traveling to an office.
For your comfort and confidentiality, you should attend from a quiet, private space with a reliable internet connection. At the beginning of each session, your clinician may confirm your current location and an emergency contact. Clients must generally be physically located in a state where the clinician is authorized to practice at the time of the appointment.
Most therapy sessions last approximately 45 to 60 minutes. However, shorter or extended sessions may be available depending on your needs, treatment goals, and the schedules of both you and your clinician.
